  • What type of finish is used?
    • Rubio MonoCoat Oil Plus 2C is used for all the floating shelf matte finishes.  Oil Plus is a revolutionary, plant-based, hardwax oil wood finish.  Oil Plus 2C works by forming a molecular bond with the topmost fibers of the wood. This results in a durable finish with great wear-, water- and heat resistance, all while keeping the natural look and feel of the wood. The technical data sheet can be found here.
  • How do I install my shelf?
    • Here you will find a comprehensive guide on how to mount your bracket.
    • We recommend only mounting our brackets onto studs, however this is not always possible.  In such an event we have provided snap toggle anchors. Here is a guide on how to install.
    • All shelves should include one stud mount per 32" of shelf width, and additionally a minimum of 1 mount per 16" of shelf width.
    • All shelves should include a minimum of 2 mounts and 1 stud mounted attachment.
  • How, and how often do I clean my finished self?
    • Cleaning should be done in the following progressive steps.
      • Cleaning with a dry microfiber cloth.  Removing dust and debris is an important step in protecting your shelf and finish.  This step can be performed as often as needed.
      • Damp rag.  A damp rag with water is often enough to remove most spills and more difficult stains.  Remember, oil and water do not mix.  The rag should be damp but not dripping wet.  This step can be performed as needed but it should not be performed more than weekly.
      • Rubio Surface Coat Spray and Rubio Soap are the only two recommended cleaners that can be used on your shelf. Please keep in mind only a damp rag should be used, not dripping wet.
  • What are your tolerances?
    • Shelf
      • Height, Width, Depth: +/- 1/16"
    • Safety Gate
      • Width, Height, Thickness:  +/- 1/16"
